Note of Gratitude

(7/2019)
Rev. Robert Bradler sent this note of thanks for May’s Diocesan Missions.

“To love another person is to see the face of God!” Les Miserables

Your people have seen the face of God in the love and lives of their brothers and sisters in Brazil and Chile.

You and your faith community have responded generous- ly to the cry of the poor by your gift in the amount of $1,027.00.

In the name of the Sisters of St. Joseph and Sisters of Mercy, we thank you a hundred-fold for your generous partnership in building God’s kingdom.

The Sisters in giving testimony to their work said, “If it were not for the generosity of the good people of this dio- cese, we could not accomplish our work.”

May the Lord bless you and smile upon you always for all that you do for God’s people in the Missions.

Rev. Robert C. Bradler
Diocesan Director

With Gratitude from the Margaret Home

(6/2019)

Dear parishioners of Holy Trinity Church,
On behalf of The Margaret Home, Inc. Board of Directors, thank you for your generous donation of $2,405 for funds generously donated through your Penny Sunday Collection for the Ministry of The Margaret Home.

Your gift will help to meet the needs of pregnant mothers who are experiencing homelessness and to find the time and support they need as they seek to provide for themselves and their children. Your generosity sets a wonderful example for others.

Again, thank you for helping us to extend God’s love to these women and their children. Please keep them and us in your prayers, as we will keep you in ours.

Greg Belemjian,
Treasurer, The Margaret Home, Inc.

Note of Gratitude

(5/2019)
This note came to HOPE from the Cathedral Community.

Dear Holy Trinity,
thank you so very much to HOPE Ministry and all the parishioners at Holy Trinity Church for your most generous donation to our Joseph’s Place Ministry.

Your tremendous support from the very beginning in helping establish our ministry at Joseph’s Place, in addition to your recent gift from your Penny Sunday Collection has helped not only to meet people’s needs for food in our community, but meet their deeper spiritual needs as well. A donation like yours, as you know, goes a long way in helping serve the hundred plus families that we encounter every month. We aim to become a beacon of hope for our neighborhood by empowering those who come to us with needs as a way to strengthen our community.

As Pope Francis said in his Apostolic Exhortation EvangelII Gaudium, “Our faith in Christ, who became poor, and was always close to the poor and the outcast, is the basis of our concern for the integral development of society’s most neglected members.”

Thank you for what you have for us through your generous gift in our effort to prayerfully imitate the ultimate servant, Christ, in what we strive to do each and every day.

Gratefully,
Very Rev. Kevin McKenna, Rector

Thank You Note to Holy Trinity (2/2019)

Hello, my name is Meghan McAliney, and this past November I spoke with you regarding my initiative to bring solar lights to the Haitian community of Gros Morne. I asked for your help and you exceeded my expectations. I was met with an overflow of support and generosity from the parishioners of Holy Trinity. Both on the week- end of my announcement and through mailed donations in the weeks following, we have collectively managed to raise $4,319.72 towards this worthy cause. I am in the process of purchasing 300+ solar lanterns (well over my original goal of 80!) which I will personally be transporting to Haiti at the end of March. The lanterns will be distributed to women and children in the village of Gros Morne during my visit.

On behalf of the recipients of these lanterns, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the compassionate people of Holy Trinity. As a result of your charity, we are able to provide solar lights to well over 300 households in the northern mountains of Haiti, which will improve the standard of living in this impoverished area for years to come. This project would not have been successful if not for your involvement. You have made a direct impact on a community of our brothers and sisters in need. Thank you once again for your generosity. I will share another update on my project, complete with pictures/ video and personal stories, after I have visited Gros Morne. Have a wonderful week!

Note of Gratitude

(7/2018)

Dear Holy Trinity Church,

Mother Teresa once said to “do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.” You are someone who has chosen to support the mission of Catholic Family Center, and we could not be more appreciative. Thank You!

For 100 years, Catholic Family Center’s mission has been to partner with those most vulnerable and those facing poverty to help them achieve their full human potential. Your gifts are crucial for our efforts to help people change their lives, and in so doing, change our community for the better. With your help, Catholic Family Center is able to keep families together, provide shelter for those without it, give an addict a second chance, and welcome our refugee families with open arms.

We could never do this work without you; and we are so grateful for your exemplary compassion for those in Rochester who need it most. Your gift helps us to create hope where it may not have existed and transform the Rochester Community. Your gift to CFC makes a difference for all who call Rochester home.

Sincerely,
Marlene Bessette,
President and CEO of CFC.

Note of Thanks from Birthright

(7/2018)

Dear Holy Trinity Folks,

Thank you so much for choosing Birthright of Ontario for your Penny Sunday donation. The amount was very generous. I suspect that it included quite a few paper bills along with the pennies!

We continue to help moms and babies as best we can. Sometimes the problems they face bring us to tears, but we know they appreciate whatever we can do.

Sincerely,
Ann Welker, Birthright Volunteer

Note of Gratitude

(6/2018)

Dear Friends of Holy Trinity,

On this feast of the Sacred Heart, please know of our heart felt gratitude for your amazing generosity from your Penny Sunday. That is a lot of pennies collected and counted!

We are so grateful that you thought of us at St. Andrew’s Food Cupboard for your gift of sharing. We go forward in our ministry to the hungry with your goodness and support. Many thanks for your efforts to partner in this mission with us.

Blessings,
Margaret Oberst
St. Andrew’s Food Cupboard

HAITI TEAM Annual Report: We did it — together!

(2/2018)

We met the matching grant challenge offered for the 2017 calendar year; and we exceeded the goal with the amount of $63,870.49, which will ease the suffering of thousands of Haitian children.

We thank St. Louis Parish and their 20+ Haiti Team, along with Sacred Heart Cathedral, Holy Trinity, St. Rita, St. Paul and the Teen Group of St. Joseph’s, plus churches in the Wilkes Barre, PA area.

Parish friend Priest and Physician, Fr. Rick Frechette at the St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Port-Au-Prince, is grateful to all who worked hard to achieve this goal.
We are grateful to the 26 Greater Rochester area merchants who sold the ornaments and St. Michael’s Woodshop and Holy Childhood who handcraft the ornaments and gift package them. This year 37 Save Around Coupon Books were also sold. Thank you to all the parish staff who helped sell them.

To learn about the monumental efforts of Fr. Rick Frechette, Google: New York Times – Rick Frechette.

Thank you again!!

Thank You from MEG’S Gift!

(1/2018)

With the help of the generous parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, Meg’s Gift awarded $55,000 in support of mental health awareness, education, and intervention for our most valuable assets, our children.

The major portion of the 2017 proceeds were donated to sup- port the work of the local chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), as well as Monroe County’s Consortium on Trauma, Illness, and Grief (TIG). Both organizations focus on the emotional health of children.

News of the 2017 awards as well as pictures of the event can be found on our website at: http://www.megsgift.org. Meg’s Gift also supported events at East House, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the Veterans Outreach Center, all of whom support our mission of mental health advocacy and wellness.

Shadow Lake will again be hosting the golf outing, silent auction and dinner to be held August 11, 2018. It has been almost four years since our Megan went home to the Lord. We know that she is now with the angels guiding our organization to demonstrate through word and deed, the compassionate and giving spirit shown throughout her life. As always, to borrow Meg’s words: “(We) love you from the top, middle, and bottom of (our) heart!”

Note of Gratitude: The Center for Youth

(12/2017)

Dear Center Friends:

The Center for Youth’s Crisis Nursery would not be possible without community members like you. Thank you for your contribution of $2,454 to support babies and children we serve.

During some of the most difficult times, the Crisis Nursery keeps children safe. When Laquanda needed respite care for her young son and assistance finding permanent daycare, the Nursery stepped in. When Jason was homeless and working two shifts, the Nursery cared for his two children while he looked for a place to live. And when Ashley needed to be with her baby boy at the hospital during his final hours, the nursery was there in the middle of the night for her 1 year-old son.

Each year we rely on fundraisers, foundations, corporations, the United Way and individuals like you to give families this safe haven they have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for believing in them and our work.

Elaine Spaull, Executive Director

Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach

(10/2017)

Dear Fr. Tim and Holy Trinity Parishioners,

We want to thank you for your generous donation in the amount of $6,000 made to Mary’s Place. We are overwhelmed and incredibly grateful to receive this gift, which will allow us to continue our outreach services and programs for refugees including food and clothing distribution, English language classes, job skills classes, and casework services.

Fr. Tim, in your letter, you noted that Holy Trinity “has been much blessed with a material well-being that can only mean God’s will for us to share it with others.” We often hear these sentiments, and it is truly humbling to witness everyday the incredible faith, kindness and generosity in our community. We are privileged not only to serve refugees, but to witness God’s love in the boundless compassion of our supporters.

By any measure, Holy Trinity’s gift is extraordinary. And we are keenly aware that without the support of people like you, Mary’s Place would be unable to continue our ministry. Again, thank you so much for helping us to continue to be a safe, inclusive places where all are welcomed with open arms.

Warm Regards,

Charlsey Bickett, Ececutive Director

Mark Hare, Board Chair

May God reward you a hundredfold for reaching out to children in the third world.

A Meal & More, Inc. Note of Thanks

(9/2017)

Dear Fr. Horan,
On behalf of the Board of A Meal & More, Inc., I write to express our gratitude to Holy Trinity Church for their very generous April Penny Sunday donation of $1,824.68 in support of our mission to relieve hunger in Rochester. We so much appreciate this support.

As in the past, we continue to provide a hot nutritious meal each Sunday and Wednesday for those in need. Our guests are people of all ages, including the homeless, the disabled, the unemployed and the elderly. We see an up- swing in the number of children when school is out during the summer months. Many of our guests regularly express their thanks for all that we provide.

Thank you again for this support of our mission.
Sincerely,
L. Janet Morse, Board Member

Note of Gratitude

(8/2017)

Dear Fr. Tim and Parishioners of Holy Trinity.
We have not yet properly acknowledged your generous donation of $1,734.53 collected during your parish Penny Sunday Collection in April and so, on behalf of the local Project Rachel Team, a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, we wish to extend our sincere gratitude for this donation and the remembrance of our ministry in your prayers, especially during that timeframe.

As you may be aware, Project Rachel was founded in 1984 by Vicki Thorn in Milwaukee and is widely recognized as the post-abortion healing ministry of the Catholic Church. The ministry’s seeds were planted in the Roch- ester Diocese just over 20 years ago by Father Jim Hewes and several men who suffer from the negative emotional, physical, and spiritual effects of abortion. Numerous individuals have been helped in our diocese since that start, but many more remain to be reached.

The Catholic Church celebrated the magnificent Jubilee Year of Mercy last year, and we have been reminded by Pope Francis that we are all sinners and need God’s mercy. Your substantial donation will greatly help us to be more effective in our efforts.

Thank you again.
Deacon David Snyder and Ms. Suzanne Stack

Thanks to the support of parishes like Holy Trinity, Catholic Family Center has reached an extraordinary milestone—a Century of Service! Letter of Gratitude

(4/2017)
Bishop Matano has sent a letter of thanks to Holy Trinity for helping with the Parish Building Fund Appeal. We were asked to donate to this special fund for our less fortunate parish communities.

Dear Fr. Tim and Parishioners of Holy Trinity,

Thank you for your very kind contribution, in the amount of $2,600.00. As you are aware, we invited all parishes to submit a list of their most urgent needs to be prioritized and addressed by this fund. The five parishes selected by the Building Fund Committee were Saint Stanislaus, Holy Apostles, Holy Cross, Saint Katherine Drexel and Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini.

Kindly express my sincere gratitude to the parishioners for their generosity, which is most appreciated.

Please be assured of my prayers and I ask a continued remembrance in your good prayers.

With cordial regards,
The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano

A Note of Thanks

(1/2017)
Fr. Robert Bradler, Diocesan Director sent us a thank you note for our World Mission Sunday offertory.

Dear Co-Worker in the Lord:

“Today, we need to see the Light of Hope, and to be men and
women who bring hope to others.” Pope Francis

Your people have truly brought hope to the mission church by their prayers and generous financial gift on World Mission Sunday. I am most grateful for your offering of $1,894.00 for the support of the Church’s missionary work.

World Mission Sunday is celebrated once a year. I hope that in the months ahead you will continue to remember the missionary work of the church through prayer and generous support.

May we walk in newness of life leading those in darkness to follow the Light. May you and your loved ones experience His faithfulness and love during this Christmas season and the com- ing new year.

Devotedly in Christ,
Robert C. Bradler

Saying thank you isn’t just polite. It’s an important tool your ministry can use to restate your message, show appreciation, and give people next steps to engage with your ministry. But the thing is, not all thank you emails are created equally.

It’s important to include a few key elements to make your donors feel appreciated, inspired, and empowered to do and give more. Here are a few steps you can take to really make your thank you notes shine.

First, focus on the giver

This thank you note is all about what they did, how their donation made a difference to your organization, and without their support you would simply be unable to execute on your mission. Organizations cannot emphasize enough the importance of community support. This is why you should highlight how meaningful their support is throughout your entire thank you note.

Communicate Results

Next, make sure you communicate the results of their gift. Did they help feed a family? Was their donation what made it possible for a new roof? Were you able to buy new toys for the children’s ministry? Don’t be afraid to share your numbers or the success that the money has or will help you build/do/support in the future. Specificity helps connect givers to the causes they care about. A generic generalized thank you note has much less of an impact than a note that communicates exactly how a giver helped your organization transform a life.

Tell A Story

Give your donors a compelling story to rally behind—and tell it well. A narrative is easier for people to remember than a page full of data and facts. Plus, a story keeps inspiring more generosity into the future. Take something relatively boring, like redoing the roof, and tell a story about how the dripping into the children’s daycare center is fixed and now the children have a warm and dry place to play and learn about Jesus. By reframing their donation as a story and focusing on how the giver’s generosity helped your community you have a much more powerful thank you note.

High-Res Photos

When putting together your thank you notes, be sure to include high-quality photos. Smiling children, cute animals, a community coming together to build a new house—whatever it is, make sure you have photos that support it. People will read the words if the photo is compelling enough, but they will most likely remember the photo and not the words at the end of the day. According to research: “The imagery of one person is stronger than a group of people, and a person or group is stronger than charts, graphs, or infographics.” While getting the right photos takes a bit of forethought, you can make sure to include photography in your thanking strategy moving forward.

Logical Next Step

Once you have written the majority of your thank you note, be sure to include a link or a way for givers to continue reading. It’s important to note that the link should not go to your donation page. This link is not another ask, but rather another way for givers to keep engaging if they so choose. You can offer them to follow along your social profiles or sign up for your newsletter if they are interested in learning more. You can include this at the end of your letter before the signature, or as a “P.S.” to show that it’s separate from the thank you. By offering a way for givers to continue to engage, you open up the possibility to deepen the relationship within your community.

Sign It Right

Finally, be sure to use the signature of someone important. Thank you notes are an opportunity for givers to be recognized, and there’s nothing more special than being personally thanked by someone who leads your ministry. This shows your community that their generosity is meaningful and important.

How to Thank Your Pastor

A pastor's work is never done.

Some might think that a pastor's busiest day is Sunday, but they don't see the late night phone calls, hospital visits and members of the congregation who seem to have an endless list of needs.

Learning how to thank your pastor, and doing so frequently, is so important. Not only is it the right thing to do, but the appreciation can even help to re-energize your pastor so that he can continue doing his important work.

Tips for Thanking Your Pastor

If you sent a thank you note to your pastor every time he deserved it, you would probably be doing a whole lot of writing. Below are some tips for how to thank your pastor.

  • There will be times when your pastor goes out of his way to assist you. Times like that certainly deserve a thank you note. You should also, however, write him a note from time to time just to thank him for the work he does for the church on a daily basis.
  • If you really want to touch your pastor's heart, include something that he said in a recent sermon. This will mean a lot to him because he will know that his words stuck with you.
  • Your thank you note doesn't have to be super long, but it should be long enough to let him see your appreciation.

In the next two sections, you will find quotes that can be included when thanking your pastor as well as a couple of sample thank you notes that you can use as a guide.

Pastor Thank You Quotes

The message of the gospel speaks loudest when people can see Christ in us. - Jerry Kinard

When God wants to speak and deal with us, he does not avail himself of an angel but of parents, or the pastor, or of our neighbor.

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. - Jeremiah 3:15

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching

Examples of Thank You Notes for Pastors

Example #1

Dear Pastor,

You have been such a blessing to my family during the loss of my father. It meant so much to all of us that you showed up at the hospital the night that he died. Also, the funeral service was so beautiful, and it is something that I will always remember.

Your genuine caring went a long way in helping me to deal with my grief, and I appreciate your offer to talk. You really are a wonderful pastor, and I'm thankful to God that you're in my life.

All the best,
Laura

Example #1

Dear Pastor,

I just wanted to write you a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate everything that you do for the church every day. Your sermons are always thoughtful and well-delivered, and the care that you show to the different ministries, such as seniors and youth, really lets every member of the congregation feel that they are special to you.

I know that you don't do what you do to earn the accolades of men, but I still wanted you to know that I have watched you change the lives of many people, and I am very proud to call you my pastor.

In Christ's Love,
Joe
